About Ro | Circus Performance Artist

Hey there! Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I am Ro (they/them), a professional flow artist and circus performer base din the North of Ireland.

Well, you’ve come this far, and goodness knows who actually reads other peoples’ websites. In lieu of some AI slop generated by the host, here’s a little about me in my own clumsy words.

I started out as an aspiring actor, until “adulthood” diverted me into a career in creative marketing, followed by a horticultural career career break. All the while, hooping was my comfort, escape and joy. Eventually, I realised that I should just try and find a way of being able to hoop all the time, and do less of the other things.

And now we are here. I have discovered a deep love for all things clowny, queer and confusing. I hope I can keep making weird art, and less weird entertainment. I’ve ended up a bit of an all-rounder, in my first few years as a jobbing artist, I focused on meeting the needs of the wider client base. I fell in love with being a fairy, or a mermaid, or an elf. The magic we get to create for people when working in character, especially when combined with circus arts, is really special to me. This developed into a love of clown (sprung from my theatre training and signature act, H-oops). I then undertook professional development training with CircilarPRO in 2026 to solidify my skills as a circus artist.

My work:

A deep love and appreciation for play, and playfulness is what informs all of my work. Whether it’s as a ring clown, breaking down the barriers of audience members and getting them to join the game; fostering creative play for all ages through workshops and teaching; or playing with audience expectation in my cabaret performance.

Basically, it’s a whole lot of fun, and you should get in on that.
